Honeymoon Getaway at the Beau Rivage

My fiance (and husband to be!) and I are going to spend a few days at the Beau Rivage for a honeymoon getaway. We can get a great deal on a room, and are now really excited about staying there! I haven%26#39;t been back to the coast since Katrina (originally from MS), so it will be nice to go back.

Wanted to get your feedback on the selection of the BR for a honeymoon getaway (looked into the Hard Rock, but it was considerably more $$....wanting to do a small-scale getaway for directly after the wedding because we%26#39;re taking the ';actual'; honeymoon later in the year...and wanted to do so on a little bit of a budget). Room at the BR: King room with an oceanview. Sound okay? Are these rooms nice?

Also, wanted to get a bit of feedback on restaurants, etc. I am a closet buffet-lover, so yes, we%26#39;ll be hitting up the buffet at the BR. But what about their other restaurants? We thought we%26#39;d do one dinner at a ';nice'; restaurant. I looked into the fine dining options at the BR, but have no idea about the price ranges (they give the menu, but no pricing).

Other suggestions? We%26#39;re from NOLA, and eat seafood regularly, so eating at a seafood restaurant isn%26#39;t necessarily a priority, but if there%26#39;s a good one, then I would definitely be open to any suggestions.

The proximity of BR to other places? It%26#39;s near the Hard Rock, right? Are there good restaurants in the Hard Rock?

I appreciate any and all feedback!! Also open to fun things to do during the day! We%26#39;re just starting to put together our plans, so bring on the ideas!!

Thanks in advance!

Honeymoon Getaway at the Beau Rivage

I%26#39;ve stayed at the BR twice this year and really like it. The rooms with an ocean view are really nice at the Beau. They have a very good buffet, coffee shop and sports bar and grill which are nice. The steak house is very expensive so be prepared. The steaks start at about 35 and go up. Ruth Chris steak house is in the Hard rock casino right next door. its a 5 minute walk to the Hard rock. The casino%26#39;s sit side by side. There is a shuttle that will take you from one casino to another for a small fee.

Ask for a room at the end of the hall on 9 or above. These rooms are a little larger and have windows on two side, They do NOT have to be gulfview to see the beach. In fact on the roadside you look up and down hwy 90 and the beach to the west. To the east you see the Hardrock. More importantly if you do not like the room simply call the front desk from that room and see what else they have. The staff wants to please you and will work with you. There are some really bad rooms that look at walls on 5 so get what you want!!

Re reataurants. We ate at Mary Mahoney%26#39;s across the road at our last stay and this was a huge disappointment compared to past visits. I believe the Hardrock has a Ruth%26#39;s Chris- pricey but excellent reputation.

I advise going by the BR and Hardrock restaurants and ask to see the menu.

All of the restaurants at BR have the menus posted. I don%26#39;t think it would be hard to make a reservation while you are there. I love the Beau - am staying there in a couple of days. We wanted to stay for 3 nights, but the weekend rate was just too high. I did find reasonable rates for Hard Rock on Travelocity. So we are moving during our stay. I really like the rooms at HR too - both great hotels. HR %26amp; Beau are probably a 3 minute walk from each other with a sidewalk. Other hotels are driving or shuttling distance. Remember to get players cards at both places. They might comp a meal or buffet if you gsmble a bit.
