Questions about McComb/Brookhaven, MS

We%26#39;ll be visiting family there around Thanksgiving time, and would love any recommendations for dining, drinks, and lodging.

For dining, we%26#39;re excited for the Dinner Bell and Golden Corral, but also wonder if there%26#39;s any charming inns for eating and sleeping? Anything more charming than the Hampton Inn, or the Days Inn??

Also, I know that McComb/Brookhaven are in a dry county. What exactly does that mean with regard to ordering cocktails with meals, or going out for a cocktail in the evening?

Many thanks!!

Questions about McComb/Brookhaven, MS

Hey there.

First of all, I%26#39;m assuming that you%26#39;ll be going between Brookhaven and McComb. In Brookhaven, a few good places to eat would be Broma%26#39;s Deli, The Inez Restaurant, or El Sombrero. Broma%26#39;s is located very close to The Hampton Inn. There is also one in the mall in McComb, but the one in Brookhaven is run better and tastes better. The Inez is a fine dining restaurant in downtown Brookhaven. El Sombrero is just the Mexican place in Brookhaven. It%26#39;s not very clean, but it tastes good, and you can get a real feel of what the people in the town are like there. North of McComb is a fine restaurant called Lake Dixie Springs. You could get directions to it off of the internet. As far as lodging goes, in Brookhaven, don%26#39;t stay anywhere but the Hampton. McComb has several new hotels that would serve their purpose, but as far as quaint inns go, they are few and far between and you would be hard pressed to find any in this area.

Brookhaven is dry. McComb is not. McComb has an Applebee%26#39;s and other bars and such, but a cocktail may be out of the question. Sorry. Hope this helps.

There is also a steakhouse in the same shopping center were Broma%26#39;s is. I believe it%26#39;s called Miller%26#39;s and it is really good. It%26#39;s right by the Hampton Inn.

Lake Dixie Springs is also very good, make sure to call ahead and see if they are open (since it%26#39;s the holiday and all).

If you drive North about 8 miles, you%26#39;ll be in Wesson. There is a restaurant there called Porches that is good. It%26#39;s located in this old house, has lots of character. There are a few new restaurants in Wesson, I%26#39;m not sure of the names. The town is small, and the eating places are right on Hwy 51.

A little farther north, there is Louise%26#39;s BBQ in Crystal Springs, about 30 min north of Brookhaven. Pretty good BBQ.
