the battlefield

We are going to Memphis next weekend for a concert. My husband and son love history and the battlefield has always been a plan of ours. How long does it take to see, etc?

Thanks

I could easily spend 1/2 a day there...probably longer for war buffs. If you see the film (very good) in the Welcome Center, and you tour the US Cairo, AND drive the cemetary, it can take some time.

In fact, you can leave the park, go get lunch, and come back with your ticket.

If you want to cut it shorter, the Welcome Center can direct you to aread that may be of more interest to you. But some states and/or regimens have very large memorials, and it makes for good walking around.

If you decide to stop in Vicksburg long enough for lunch, and/or overnight, re-post, and we %26#39;ll give more info.

have fun,

The kids want an indoor pool - is there a hotel with one in Vicksburg? We will either leave Memphis saturday afternoon or around 6 am on Sunday - in order to spend the entire day there.

There is a Comfort Suites at the Clay Street exit. (This is the exit at the entrance to the National Military Park anyway.)

It is a new property and I am not even sure there are reviews here on TA of it, but they do have an indoor pool, and a good location.

I would look at Expedia, or maybe the Comfort Suites (Choice Hotels???) website.

Just be sure you choose COMFORT SUITES, and NOT Comfort Inn %26amp;amp; Suites. (There is another one in Vicksburg) Look closely at the pictures and maybe ask what year the property was built.

One of the casino hotels MIGHT have an indoor pool, but I am not sure.

Have a good trip,

Miller
