Cell Phones

My daughter %26amp; I will be in Gulfport, from Canada, for two weeks to attend a horse show Feb 17- Mar 2.

I have spoken to our cell phone service provider and the cost to use our Canadian cell phones in the US is ridiculous ($70 for 200 min. per phone). Last year when we travelled to Britain, I was able to purchase a cheap phone with a 10 GBP phone card for the equivalent of $40 which was adequate for our 10 day stay. We will have internet access to communicate with people at home but I need an inexpensive option for communitcations between my daughter %26amp; I while we are in Gulfport. Can anyone familiar with US phone service providers give me any advice? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about a GO PHONE? They can be purchased at most discount store such as Wal-Mart and K-Mart. I bought one recently for my nephew, who keeps breaking his phone and going over the plan mins. You just have to purchase the mins as you go.

I got one on sale for $20 and then purchased a card that loads mins on his phone. I think the card was $25. Not sure how many mins that provided. I just gave the bag to thim and let him set it all up.

These GO phones can be used in place of any of your regular phones in case you lose it, it breaks or is stolen. You would just have to get your mobile company to get you a sim card and have your # activated.
