Trip Report Dec. 11-14

For my birthday, my husband gave me a long weekend to Biloxi. My girlfriends and I left early on Thursday morning. Upon arriving at Beau Rivage, we were able to check-in to our double room. We had a view out the front of the hotel. (It was a comp, so I didn%26#39;t mind not getting an oceanview.) We headed straight downstairs to split one of their humongous hot dogs and a rueben. We then hit the slots and drinks.

After playing for a few hours, we taxied to Isle of Capri. My friend thinks her lucky machine is there. (It wasn%26#39;t - lol) We stayed there for a couple of hours and decided to go to The Grand. No taxi. We thought no problem - it%26#39;s only across the street. Did I mention how cold and windy it was? We walked for what was probably 5-10 minutes but seemed like 30. We played there for about an hour, then taxied to IP. After playing there for an hour, we decided to head back to the Beau for dinner at Terrace Cafe.

The waiter there had much to be desired, but the food was very good. I had lettuce wraps. GF 1 had muffaletta. GF 2 had a cheeseburger. The food was very good. Back to drinks and machines until midnight. Day 2 to follow.

Trip Report Dec. 11-14

Hi ScubaA,

Glad you had a good trip. Sounds like lots of fun! Nothing like a group of girls having fun in a casino.

Did you play the Wizard of Oz at the Beau? If so, have any luck? Did you see the slot ';You Bet your Life'; (Groucho Marx)? My sister in law is hooked on it.

Did you eat outside of the casino at all?

We are leaving next Thursday (Christmas morning) going down to Biloxi for 3 nights and then to New Orlens for 2 nights.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I see you are also a Georgia Peach :-)

Thanks,

Vicki

Trip Report Dec. 11-14

Day 2

We were up and over to Hard Rock for their $4.99 breakfast buffet. It was OK, nothing outstanding, but worth $5. We played slots there for awhile, then headed back to Beau. We played for a few hours, then it was time for girls to head home and for me to head for the spa.

I had booked 2 salon treatments. They told me that I could come early and enjoy all the spa amenities. It was good that the reservation people told me this. I arrived an hour early. They checked me in and sat me to wait. No mention of how early I was - did I want a tour - nothing. I went out and asked about sitting in a sauna. They said sure, but I felt like I was kind of on my own. They gave me a locker, but not any directions. I had to ask a patron where the sauna was. My treatments were OK, but not what I expected from Beau Rivage. I probably won%26#39;t go back to the spa.

By the time I was done with the spa, hubby had arrived. We checked out of Beau and into Hard Rock. We played slots at both places. We went to the seafood buffet that night (Fri.). It was very good. It is $9.99 from 4-6 and then goes to $21.99. We got in on the $10. The variety was amazing...shrimp, several kinds of crab, lobster claws, mussels, clams, fish, plus all the normal buffet fare. Great bargain. Slots and drinks until late.

Day 3 to follow.

VBR - We mostly ate at the casinos (had several comps). We were told that McElhaney%26#39;s was very good. It is just across the bridge toward Ocean Springs and to the left. Several locals suggested it. We just ran out of time or energy. Hope to try it next time. Also have read about The Shed on this forum. Do a search for it - supposed to have fantastic BBQ.

Okay, I think I have read about McElheny before. We may have the time to try it out. If we do, I will post it here.

Day 3

We were lazy Sat. morning. Finally got up and walked to Waffle House. Very good breakfast - great service. Decided to play at Beau. Had great fun on Monopoly...a few wins...mostly fun.

We then drove over to Ocean Springs. They have some cute shops in their downtown area. We drove along the coast. Very nice little side trip.

We stopped at Grand on way back into Biloxi. The slots there loved us. We had a lot of fun with several hot slots. I got 90 free spins on one (something about a leopard i think)! We ate lunch at the bar outside of LB%26#39;s Steakhouse. Good food. Great service.

We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at Hard Rock. Ups and downs on slots. Excellent bloody mary-s. Ate at the diner - blue plate special - very good. Again great service.

Day 4 - Hope ya%26#39;ll aren%26#39;t too bored.

We were again lazy. Finally got up and packed. We ate at the buffet at HR for breakfast again. The made-to-order omelets were very good.

We packed and checked out then drove over to Island View at Gulfport. This is another very nice casino. I%26#39;d love to stay there, but so far it%26#39;s been too expensive. We had some free play that lasted us several hours. Great fun. But, alas, time to head home.

Final Thoughts

Wonderful trip. Very few interruptions or problems. For the most part, wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Biloxi seems to have something just opened or new building started each time we go (around every 2-3 months). Hopefully the market downturn won%26#39;t hurt this area too badly. Although, we did hear Margaritaville was on permanent hold. Too bad. The casinos and restaurants seemed fairly busy.

Thanks for your reports! Sounds like you had a great birthday weekend!

I went to the Beau%26#39;s Spa once and had a good experience but I think you have to be somewhat of a regular to get catered to. My mother in law was a regular therefore I got special treatment.

We love the HR especially in the evenings as they have great entertainment and people watching in addition to fun slots.

I do think Biloxi has gained a few new patrons as Vegas has lost a few especially from the Southeast part of the country with the way the economy is.
