Tunica trip 1/10/09

We left early for Tunica due to a big snowstorm hitting Northern Indiana. Arriving 2 days early, we couldn%26#39;t get into Sam%26#39;s since it was a weekend. We stayed at a Comfort Inn which was within walking distance and had a very enjoyable experience there. We were given pleasant large rooms with a fridge, microwave, free wireless internet, and hot Continental breakfasts. The price was reasonable, and we were treated very kindly. There were some issues (lights needing new bulbs) but they were accomdating and eager to please. Then came our move to Sam%26#39;s. I called about getting in a little earlier (since we had to be out of our hotel at 11am) and was told that would probably be okay. Arriving at Sam%26#39;s at 3:30pm we were told curtly that our rooms weren%26#39;t ready, we came back at 4pm (check in time) and again were told curtly our rooms weren%26#39;t ready and they didn%26#39;t have any idea when we would be able to move in. An hour later we were finally able to go to our rooms.

Our rooms were very nice with comfortable beds, but the view was poor. When asking about a small fridge we were told only if we had medicine that had to be kept cool. And the wireless was $10.99 per day. Of course, being a casino, there was no continental breakfast and the all the meals at Sam%26#39;s seemed fairly expensive. The power went off while were there, causing loss of cable tv and elevator service. Again when we asked the people at the lobby about it, they were very curt in their response (no idea how long it would be down).

We did have some wonderful experiences in Tunica, playing slots at the Sheridan on Sunday, they announced a special offer of a $4.99 Champagne brunch which was WONDERFUL! The best deal by far, for the whole vacation. We also enjoyed the winner winner chicken dinner for $4.99 at the Fitzgerald%26#39;s which also seemed to pay out better than the other casino%26#39;s in Tunica. It included 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn on the cob (also rolls). It was really a great meal. I would advise trying their soup also, it was terrific!

All in all, we had a very pleasant time in Tunica. If we decided to give it a try another time though, we%26#39;ll probably stay at the Comfort Inn, it was so much more convenient.

Since we%26#39;re new at the casino stay, we didn%26#39;t realize that using our players cards from the Blue Chip (Boyd%26#39;s B-Rewards) would give us discounted rates in any of their casinos. I would advise checking into these rates first. They were very very reasonable.

Toontzie, nice report. Did you try the buffet at Sam%26#39;s Town I am curious about the corky%26#39;s bar b que quality. I liked the black jack games being dealt at Sam Town. dixie.

Thank you for posting your trip report. I enjoyed reading about your experience.

The bbq quality on the buffet is very good. Apparently they have the same equipment and methods as the other Corky%26#39;s restaurants. To me it tastes just as good on the buffet as it does in the restaurant. The ribs have their smoke ring and are falling off the bone tender. And who can argue with all you can eat ribs?
