My husband and I are planning on spending our spring break at one of the casinos there in Biloxi. I want to do some sight-seeing also. Has this area built back up after Hurrican Katrina? What are some interesting sites to see? Also, any interesting places within driving distances. Thanks for all answers in advance.
Spring Break in Biloxi
Slowly coming back. Be sure to visit Beauvoir on the Beach.
Spring Break in Biloxi
Hubby %26amp; I drove over the bridge to Ocean Springs when we were there last. The downtown area (just across the bridge and to the right - there%26#39;s a sign) is very cute. Several shops and cafes - all in a few blocks.
There is a public boat that launches out of Gulfport (sister city right next to Biloxi to the West) goes out to Ship Island. You can get a taste of the green/blue Gulf out there. The island is a natural state park with an old Fort also.
As mentioned on another thread on here, there is also charter boat fishing.
The area is cleaned up but you will see some empty lots along Beach Blvd. It is coming along in getting rebuilt; but still has a ways to go. Many of the big old beautiful houses were totaled in Katrina. As in another thread, be sure to visit Beauvoir the old home of Jefferson Davis which took a beating in Katrina; but is refurbished and reopened.
You will get alot of good recommendations from people on this thread.
