Mississippi/Tennesse Road Trip

We are taking a road trip from Kansas City to Mobile Alabama for a cruise. We want to stop somewhere along the way but aren%26#39;t sure where we should stop. We%26#39;d like to go a little further than Memphis. We%26#39;ll have my 7 year old daughter with us so I want to make sure it%26#39;s someplace safe and interesting. Anyone have any ideas?

I appreciate the help!!

How about here, Tupelo,Ms It%26#39;s where Elvis was born and is a nice quiet little town. It%26#39;s about a 2 hour drive south of Memphis.

What would you recommend we do while we are there? We%26#39;ll be there on January 1st, probably only for one day/night.

Well, being an Elvis fan, I would suggest going to his birthplace. The birthplace is in East Tupelo and much of the area has not changed from the early days.

You could go to the Tupelo Hardware store where he bought his first guitar. The guys at the store enjoy telling the Elvis story.

Make sure you stay on Gloster Street, that%26#39;s the main drag through town. There is plenty of places to eat along the street.

You could visit the automobile museum or the buffalo park. I have never been to those places but they seem quite popular.

Tupelo is a nice little town and is perfectly safe. Enjoy your trip to Mobile. We were in Mobile earlier this year on our road trip through the south. We visited the USS Alabama. If you have time before your cruise, I would suggest a look at that.
