It%26#39;s been a few years since we have stayed here, not been back in the Biloxi area since Katrina--was wandering if anyone has stayed here recently? and what are your comments about the place and casino...we are Harrah%26#39;s players, so our room will be comped--would love to stay at the Beau, but since its been so long, don%26#39;t know if we can get a comped room there or not...any comments appreciated...we also go to Vegas at least once a year, but decided to pass this year, and go somewhere closer to home, even though its still a 10 hr. drive for us. Thanks
Rooms at the Grand?
Rooms are nice there. However the casino is smallish.
Hope they have better service in their small restaurant bar in the lobby now than when we went about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. They gave us a menu and then forgot about us. The waitresses stood around behind the bar and talked while one other lady waited on a huge table of customers. They just forgot about me and my daughter. Needless to say, we just got up and walked out after waiting 25 min.
There is a nicer restaurant there with pretty good food...wish I could remember the name of it.
Rooms at the Grand?
By the way, check out all the casinos (Beau Rivage (my favorite), Hard Rock right next door, Imperial Palace, Treasure Bay, Palace, Isle of Capri, and Boomtown) in Biloxi. They have a shuttle between the casinos. Also, check out the Island View in Gulfport, a sister city next to Biloxi to the west...nice big new casino/hotel.
Avoid the buffet at Hard Rock....not too tasty. Other eating places there are fairly good, though.
Thank you Suthrnbell---We will probably stay at the Grand and drive to the other casino%26#39;s, since I know for sure that our room there is comped, every little bit helps...I will give the Beau a call later and see what kind of deal they can give us...it is our favorite, and we love eating at the Buffet there...my husband says they have the best bread pudding/with whiskey sauce in the whole wide world...and we usually have good luck there too.--but we plan on giving all the casino%26#39;s a visit, we plan on staying there at least 3 days, and then head down the road to Lillian, AL. and visit my brother on our way back to SC...Thanks again for the info.
casinomama: We just stayed there at the end of October and we%26#39;re heading back in late April. We are also Harrah%26#39;s players and we were comped three nights on both visits.
The rooms are nicer than North Tower Ballys Las Vegas rooms, though not as large. The bathroom is more newly renovated than Ballys Las Vegas. Plasma tv is a nice touch.
We stayed Sunday thru Wednesday in October and are doing the same thing in April. The casino is not huge, but as a slot player I was satisfied with the penny slot choices.
The buffet is very affordable and quite good with prices at $6.99 a person for breakfast and $8.99 for lunch. According to their website, the Starbucks is now open 24 hrs, even though in October it was not open 24/7.
I agree with SuthernBell about the Lobby Bar. Service ran from poor to good, but there is an Asian themed restaurant located to the right of the buffet and a steakhouse called LBs, besides the Lobby Bar and the buffet.
You will find the car comes in handy as the Isle and the Palace are about 3/4 to a full mile from the Grand, and the Hard Rock and the Beau are about a mile and a half away. Boomtown was especially fun (figure the Gold Coast in Biloxi lol) and right nearby Boomtown was the IP which we did not get to on our first trip. That is also a ten -minutish car ride from the Grand.
Valet service , hotel personnel, and elevator promptness were all excellent. The days we were there in October we got 10x points on both Monday and Wednesday, which kept us at Platinum for the year of ';09.
I found the general feel of the place to be very reminiscent of Ballys Las Vegas on a slightly better level esthetically and can%26#39;t wait for 4/26 to get here lol!
casinomama: Meant to add that if you%26#39;re a Harrahs player in Vegas, the machines at the Grand and Boomtown will be very familiar. I kind of found the slot selection at the Beau to be so-so, though the place itself is gorgeous. Can%26#39;t comment on the Hard Rock or IP as we didn%26#39;t get to either on the first trip.Ciao, Mark
That%26#39;s it! LB%26#39;s! Daughter and I had supper there one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it....excellent service.
You have lots of good info, oakland....very thorough.
casinomama: Bumped my trip report from October for you. Enjoy; when are you headed to Biloxi?
Please drive out and try Island View Casino %26amp; Hotel. We really enjoyed our visit during the week of Christmas.
We only stayed 1 night. I gambled from about 3pm on the day we arrived until midnight and a couple of hours the next morning, prior to leaving for New Orleans.
They were having a promotion that every hour there was a point multiplier, from 2x-12x. Everytime I turned around I had %26#39;point play%26#39; to convert to cash.
We went on to New Orleans for a couple of days and on the day we returned home, I got a call from a casino host asking when I wanted to come back. Two days later, I got a very nice card with weekly free play of $350 for each week in Jan and Feb. In addition to a $25 credit for food and four nights hotel comp.
I%26#39;m leaving to go back on Feb 11 and stay four nights. During this time, I can use 2 of my free plays. Woo Hoo $700 FREE PLAY!!!
The casino is newer than most the others and very nice...and generous with the free play. After all my time playing during my Dec trip, I left $100 down. I had hit $600 on two different machines in less than 24 hours.
The buffet is very good too!
Vicki
casinomama, You never made it to the Grand when you inquired about it last year? It%26#39;s small.
Too small...husband can find me faster than the others when he runs low on $$.
Casino mama Beau is running a special 49-79 for the next couple of months you might try the web. I didn%26#39;t stay at the Grand but we didn%26#39;t care for the casino small and really really hot.
