Where to stay

Hi,

We are heading down to the coast from Atlanta in July before going to New Orleans. We were thinking about Pensacola for a couple of nights but I am looking for opinions on whether this is the best choice or is there somewhere nicer?

We are in our 40s, just looking for nice shops, restaurants, a nice seafront and a cool vibe.

Any thoughts?

Where to stay

If you are looking for a nice beach area, choose the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area in Alabama. If you just want to walk along a coastal beach and like to gamble stop in the Biloxi/Gulfport area. Their beaches don%26#39;t compare to Alabama though.

Where to stay

If you are specifically looking for a nice beach town somewhere between Atlanta and NO, I would agree that Gulf Shores, Alabama is the best bet.

The Mississippi beaches are okay to look at, but aren%26#39;t nearly as nice as Gulf Shores (aka the ';redneck riviera'; which covers Gulf Shores and other nearby beaches).
